Numerous studies have found that one of the keys to happiness is to be in service of others, particularly those that are in need. Volunteers get the dual benefit of stepping out of their comfort zone while also uplifting others. Through a unique blend of adventure, challenge, and service, participants have frequently noted their expedition as being one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of their lives.
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. They play an important role in fundraising, coordinating and serving our missions whether they are non-medical or medical volunteers. Our volunteers seek to give back and we aim to educate about the communities we work in and inspire them to give back.
“I’ve always wanted to give back and Sight to Sky was the way to do it.”
— Jesse Vinet, Marketing Executive, Volunteer from 2019
“I can come in direct contact with the people in need… and it touches my soul.”
— Dr. Peter Loh, Engineer, Volunteer from 2019
“It’s a great way for healthcare professionals to reach out to remote communities”
— Jovian Brandon, Optometrist, Volunteer from 2018-2021
"The trips with STS are more than making an impact in the community, it is also a journey of self-discovery. Amongst the mountainous ranges in rural parts of certain countries, healthcare is uncommon, and even if available, the quality is limited. STS offers participants to travel to far reaches of this earth to provide eye and basic healthcare to communities who need it the most. The experience is enlightening whilst making an impact on the community."
- Colin Wee, Director of a Non-Profit Foundation, Volunteer from 2018-2019
